Chicago Bears Game Used

John Huarte - 1972

1972 John Huarte game used home jersey. Huarte only played in Chicago for 1 season but this is definitely one he wore on Oct. 15, game against Cleveland. The jersey shows minor use consistent with a back-up QB. This is a very rare style that omitted the sleeve stripes. During two seasons the Bears were experimenting with different styles and this is the experimental home jersey style. Some games had these and others were the regular style with classic striped sleeves. Later these jerseys were used as practice jerseys and had the name plates removed. To find one with the name plate still attached is a Bears collectors dream. Huarte played college football at the University of Notre Dame for the Fighting Irish football team and won the 1964 Heisman Trophy.
